Most people appreciate that only the Honey Bee (apis Meliffera meliffera) produce honey in large enough quantities that we humans are able to take some of their surplus without harming the bees welfare in any way. Indeed, the honey bee population is artifically high due to humans keeping them for crop pollination and honey production.
